Every Christmas I make a bucket list of ideas to fill the days with. Now that Christmas is almost here, I brought you my favorite Christmas activities I think you all can enjoy of during this holiday season. I’m more than excited to share it with you, and super happy to finally start posting seasonal content.
25 Christmas bucket list ideas
1. Cookies and milk
not for Santa, but for yourself. I recommend baking sugar cookies and then decorating them creatively. It’s a thing I always do and always enjoy of. It can also be gingerbread cookies or anything you’d like. No matter what you’ll make, it’s such a delicious way to add more sweetness to your days & a very bonding activity.
2. Write a letter to Santa
Well, this one does go to Santa. writing clarifies your thinking and is a great way to connect with your feelings, and to realize the things you want from yourself. Look at what you write as an agenda or a wish list for the upcoming year. Write about your goals and the things you want to accomplish. At the end of next year, return to this letter and see how much you’ve achieved.
3. Create a Christmas movie watch list
Write what movies you want to watch during this time of the year. Personally, I will only watch holiday movies if it’s holiday time, so I find this method not only super fun but also super helpful.
4. Use or create an advent calendar
In case you don’t know what advent calendars are, they are used to count in anticipation the days of the advent of Christmas. Inside each door in the calendar there are little gifts (overall 25 gifts for each day).
You can get yourself one, or create one for someone you love.
5. Get your nails done
Ugh. That’s a must do for me. Each year I never fail to put this on my Christmas bucket list. Truly the best way to feel more inspired each season. Pinterest is a great source for inspiration for Christmas or Winter themed nails. There are so so many beautiful and exciting designs you can get inspired by. 6. Diy Christmas tree decorations
A basic holiday tradition is to put on a Christmas tree. Yet if you want to add more personal elements to your tree it is so much fun to create them by yourself or with people you love. It can be something really simple, or you can go totally big time with it. Either way, your tree will look fantastic.
7. Create a countdown table
Countdown table can really keep you on your toes while you are waiting for it to end. Get creative with it! Whether it’s digital or on paper, it can keep you excited.
You can also use it to plan ahead your days so that in each day you’ll have one Christmas activity to accomplish.
8. Decorate pictures around your house with Christmas motives
I saw this idea in one of Allison’s YouTube videos and couldn’t ignore it. All you need to do is to draw or print cute little Santa hats, candy canes or anything you’d like. Then stick them on top of pictures around your home . I think it’s such a sweet & creative addition.
9. Write your own Christmas song \ poem
Look around for inspiration and think of the right way to describe it. Take the time to stay in the moment and appreciate all the beauty of the season. I think it can be a nice tradition, and obviously you’ll get something magical out of it.
10. Drink hot cocoa
There’s no such a thing too much sweetness this time of the year. I think it’s the perfect cozy wintery drink ever! Especially when you add gingerbread man, marshmallows and a candy cane. Yummm.
11. Read Christmas stories and poems
Enter warmth into your heart during this cold season by getting lost in this world of imaginary stories and miracles. Find the beauty in each line. It’s yours.
12. Take holiday themed photos
Direct the scene, get creative and edit your favorite photos. It can be photos of yourself, family & friends, cozy drink, a Christmas tree or anything you think that reflects your vision the best.
13. Knit Christmas themed accessories
use all the seasonal colors and get creative with what you knit. If you don’t know how to knit it’s a great opportunity to learn how to do so.
14. Learn to play Christmas songs on your instruments
If you love playing music it’s the perfect fit in my opinion! There are so many simple beginner friendly melodies, as well as more advanced level ones.
15. Create a jolly holiday playlist
Speaking of music, as a music lover it’s really impossible not to update my Christmas songs playlist every year. Here are some of my all-time favorites.
16. Create a mood board
Use old photos & videos of yours from this time of the year and scroll through Pinterest for more photos you want to add to your mood board.
17. Go to a Christmas market
Who doesn’t love a good walk through a Christmas market? All the lights, the decorations, the smells and the music. Truly a dream.
18. Bullet journaling
Personally, I can’t keep up with bullet journaling all year long, and believe me, I tried. Yet I tend do go back at it during Autumn & Winter time. That’s because there’s tones of inspiration around.
That’s so fun to plan and draw all of these cute things, especially when they’re Christmas related. You can even just doodle in your notebooks some.
19. Gift others
Gifting is fun and refreshing and I see a lot of people make and even design a gifts giving list. I think that’s super cute! It makes the process more enjoyable and organized.
20. Read Christmas quotes
Quotes in general can be very motivating and inspiring. The holiday season is already filled with so much magic, yet, I think you can totally make it better by reading a quote every once in a while throughout it.
21. Decorate your space
Add more seasonal elements to your living environment, and highlight pops of color that mean Christmas to you. After all, your home is where you are every day, and you probably want it to feel cozy.
22. Spoil yourself with something nice
Don’t forget to show yourself some love as well! Gift yourself with something that makes you happy. A day off, new clothes, a walk in the park, new phone…!
23. Design unique holiday cards for loved ones
Make your holiday cards personal and get creative with each one. A beautiful gesture.
24. Go ice-skating
Ice- skating is obviously a very popular Christmas activity but I still feel the need to give it a place on this list. The ice-skating rink is such a breathtaking place. Obviously it doesn’t have to be that fancy like Rockefeller Center’s one with its gorgeous Christmas tree. The rink itself is enough, just skate and enjoy.
25. Gingerbread house competition
Bring out your creative (and maybe competitive) side in a gingerbread house competition!
